Corporate governance and effect in fintech: Evidence from Gulf Cooperation Council banking sector

This study looks at the banking sector in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) from 2013 to 2021 determine impact that corporate governance had on financial innovation, as well innovation performance. Thirty (30) commercial banks with 270 annual observations were selected, including 5 each country. In order quantify factors play, we queried databases such Refinitiv Eikon and Fitch Connect. The research indicates a greater number of directors backgrounds finance or accounting, higher attendance rate directors, ratio independent average director education level, background provide more cutting-edge services. Since 2017, has been significant factor how approach providing new, services their customers. Furthermore, bank’s profitability value will rise direct proportion extent which it provides holding subsidiary could if they provided innovative However, same action taken by non-financial have negative profitability.
